Wisdom (Part 53)

James 1:17-27  Every good and perfect gift comes from heaven; it comes down from GOD, The Creator of the heavenly lights, with Whom there is no variation. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. Of His own will He brought us forth by The Word Of Truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures. Therefore, my dear Brothers, let every person be quick to listen but slow to speak, slow to get angry; for a person’s anger does not accomplish GOD’s righteousness! So rid yourselves of all vulgarity and obvious evil, and receive meekly The Word implanted in you that can save your lives. Don’t deceive yourselves by only hearing what The Word says, but do it! For whoever hears The Word but doesn’t do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror, who looks at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But if a person looks closely into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be Blessed in what he does. Anyone who thinks he is religiously observant but does not control his tongue is deceiving himself, and his observance counts for nothing. Pure and undefiled religion before God is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

James 3:13-18   If you are wise and understand GOD’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not GOD’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind. But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

1 Peter 5:5d-9  All of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “GOD resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under The mighty Hand Of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in The Faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your Brotherhood in the world.
