Pride (Part 6)

Jeremiah 50:31,32  “See, I am your enemy, O proud people,” says the Lord, the Lord Almighty. “Your day of reckoning has arrived. O land of pride, you will stumble and fall, and no one will raise you up. For I will light a fire in the cities of Babylon that will burn everything around them.”

Ezekiel 7:8-12b  “Now upon you I will soon pour out My fury, and spend My anger upon you; I will judge you according to your ways, and I will repay you for all your abominations. My eye will not spare, Nor will I have pity; I will repay you according to your ways, and your abominations will be in your midst. Then you shall know that I am the Lord who strikes. Behold, the day! Behold, it has come! Doom has gone out; The rod has blossomed, pride has budded. Violence has risen up into a rod of wickedness; None of them shall remain, none of their multitude, none of them; nor shall there be wailing for them. The time has come, The day draws near.”

Ezekiel 16:49b-50  “This was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit.”

Ezekiel 24:20b-21  A message came to me from the Lord, and I was told to give this message to the people of Israel. This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “I will desecrate my Temple, the source of your security and pride. Your sons and daughters in Judea will be slaughtered by the sword.”

Ezekiel 28:1-7,17  This message came to me from the Lord: “Son of man, give the prince of Tyre this message from the Sovereign Lord: In your great pride you claim, ‘I am a god! I sit on a divine throne in the heart of the sea.’ But you are only a man and not a god, though you boast that you are like a god. You regard yourself as wiser than Daniel and think no secret is hidden from you. With your wisdom and understanding you have amassed great wealth — gold and silver for your treasuries. Yes, your wisdom has made you very rich, and your riches have made you very proud. Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: Because you think you are as wise as a god, I will bring against you an enemy army, the terror of the nations. They will suddenly draw their swords against your marvelous wisdom and defile your splendor! Your heart grew proud because of your beauty, you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor. But I have thrown you on the ground; before kings I have made you a spectacle.”
