Pride (Part 3)

Psalm 101:4-6b  I will reject perverse ideas and stay away from every evil. I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride. I will keep a protective eye on the godly, so they may dwell with me in safety.

Proverbs 6:1-3  My child, if you co-sign a loan for a friend or guarantee the debt of someone you hardly know — if you have trapped yourself by your agreement and are caught by what you said — quick, get out of it if you possibly can! You have placed yourself at your friend’s mercy. Now swallow your pride; go and beg to have your name erased.

Proverbs 8:13-14  “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding, I have strength.”

Proverbs 11:2-3  When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them.

Proverbs 13:10  By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom.

Proverbs 14:2-3  He who walks in his uprightness fears the Lord, but he who is perverse in his ways despises Him. In the mouth of a fool is a rod of pride, but the lips of the wise will preserve them.

Proverbs 16:5  The Lord despises pride; be assured that the proud will be punished.

Proverbs 16:17-20  The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; he who keeps his way preserves his soul. Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.

Proverbs 17:6  Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged; parents are the pride of their children.

Proverbs 21:4,23-24  Prideful eyes, an arrogant heart, and the lamp of the wicked are all sinful. Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles. A proud and haughty man–“Scoffer” is his name; he acts with arrogant pride.
